Firmly on the leading edge of cancer care, our researchers conduct clinical trials, continually investigating new ways to prevent and treat cancer. This is one of the greatest advantages the Van Elslander Cancer offers patients, providing the most up-to-date treatment for your cancer.
Clinical trials are research studies conducted with patients or with healthy people. They are designed to answer specific questions about the effectiveness of new ways to prevent, detect, diagnose, and treat cancer.
Clinical trials may evaluate a new drug, radiation oncology, or other treatment methods. They may also study commonly prescribed medications used in new combinations or administered in different ways. Most treatments that are now used to prevent and treat cancer were first studied in clinical trials.
At Van Elslander Cancer Center, our patients have access to more than 200 clinical trials through the Community Clinical Oncology Program and the other programs listed in the Research Affiliates section.
